About

September 2015: I’m done blogging *but* I may temporarily resume in 2016, since I am planning on seeing Silent Siren in the spring. Until then, “Keep it GEM!”™

Edit #2 (September 2014): This is really outdated again. I’m now pushing Doll☆Elements, which would be more obvious if I could think of a cool Doll☆Element-y name. All I can come up with is Valley of the Doll☆Elements.

Edit: I really need to update this. My blog is about GEM now. GEM GEM GEM. More precisely, it’s about groups from two agencies: iDOL Street (SUPER☆GiRLS, GEM, street-sei) and Platinum (predia and PASSPO).

PASSPOGASM /pæs poʊ gäz əm/

Intense or paroxysmal excitement; the physical and emotional sensation experienced at the peak of PASSPO excitation, usually resulting from stimulation of the PASSPO gland.

PASSPO
(ぱすぽ) is a 10 member, self-described “girls rock unit” from Akihabara. The girls were chosen from the “Everyone Makes an Idol” blog (みんなでつくるアイドル ) – a blog that encouraged fans to participate in the creation of a new idol group. As the blog progressed the 10 members were selected, the name “PASSPO” and the PASSPO logo were chosen, and the flight attendant theme was decided on. PASSPO officially debuted in July 2009 and had their first live, which they call a “Flight,” on November 17, 2009. Integrating the flight attendant theme further into the groups image, concert tickets are called “passports,” fans are called “passengers,” and a “frequent flier” system encourages fans to see them regularly. PASSPO haters are called “hijackers.” The group is choreographed by Natsumi Takenaka, creator of the dance sensation “d-lugging” (dancing with luggage). Their first single, “Let it Go!!,” was released on March 31, 2010 on indie label Jolly Roger and their major label debut, “Shoujo Hiko” (Flight Girl), was released on May 4, 2011 on Universal J. “Shoujo Hiko” debuted at #1 on the daily Oricon chart, finished the week as the #1 single, and was the highest selling girl group debut since 1998. PASSPO’s official fan club, PAL ☆ (Passpo Air Lines ☆), was announced on April 11, 2011. Applications for club secretary are still being accepted.

On December 31, 2011 Kaho Sakuma graduated from the group for health reasons.

Predia
is a “party” themed, new-gen™ pop group. They’re also PASSPO’s (hottie) “sister” group. The groups share the same production agency, Platinum Passport, and choreographer Natsumi Takenaka. Predia are often the opening act for PASSPO “flights” and it’s common for random members to appear in the blogs of the other group, particularly the blogs of Makoto and Natsumi. The group debuted in November 2010, the name pre-dia being an abbreviation of “pre-diamond” (based on the phrase “diamonds in the rough”).

Predia released their first single “Dia Love” on 2011/01/26, and their second single, “Dream of Love”, was released on 2011/07/20. “Dia Love” peaked at #160 on the Oricon daily chart, and appeared on the chart three times. On 7/23 “Dream of Love” hit #27 on the daily chart, their highest rank ever (7/23 was the day of their record release event in Saitama).  Predia released their third single “Honey-B” on 2011/11/23. The single charted twice on the daily chart at #19 and #24, and finished the week as the 40th best-selling single, which were all record highs for the group.

Predia announced their own fan club in December 2011. Applications for club treasurer are currently being accepted.

In January they officially altered their name from pre-dia to predia.
